Laser Surgery
A safe alternative to traditional surgery.
Our office utilizes the latest CO2 laser technology for soft tissue surgeries. As the name implies, this particular type of surgery is performed using a highly focused, handheld laser beam.
Unlike traditional surgery, laser surgery vaporizes soft tissue while simultaneously cauterizing it. This reduces the time it takes to perform the procedure and efficiently kills any bacteria in its path.
When available, laser surgery is often preferable to traditional surgery for these reasons:
- Less pain and bleeding
- Decreased swelling
- Reduced risk of infection
- Increased precision
- Increased speed of procedure/decreased anesthesia time
- Quicker overall recovery
Although laser surgery isn’t right for every surgical procedure, more often than not, it is an available option.
Procedures commonly performed with laser surgery include:
- Spays and Neuters
- Biopsies
- C-sections
- Mass removals (including skin tags, cysts, polyps, and tumors)
- Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrom (BOAS):
- Elongated soft palate resection
- Stenotic Nares
- Everted laryngeal Saccules
- Gingivectomy (Removal of excess gum tissue)
- Scrotal ablations

BOASs Surgery:
Brachycephalic airway syndrome is a term that describes a set of anatomical features in a dog’s airway that cause increased resistance to movement of air.
Brachycephalic syndrome is a very prevalent and under recognized medical condition in many breeds of dogs. With education, we can improve breeding standards for these animals, recognize and treat affected dogs in effort to provide them an improved quality of life.
